What would the holiday season be without a little gingerbread? Okay, what would the holiday season be without a lot of gingerbread? And as much as we love gingerbread houses and gingerbread cookies, sometimes our sweet tooth is hankering for something softer, something sweeter, that wonderful thing called a doughnut.

Now, we're pleased to report you can satisfy two cravings — one for gingerbread, the other for doughnuts — in one bite with the return of Krispy Kreme's Gingerbread Glazed doughnuts today on Wednesday, December 16. The limited-time offer at participating shops nationwide runs through Christmas Eve next Thursday and is comprised of two doughnut flavors.

First, sink your teeth into the Gingerbread Glazed doughnut, made up of "perfectly spiced gingerbread dough" studded with notes of cinnamon and topped off with a warm gingerbread molasses glaze. Then, there's the Gingerbread Glazed Original Filled Cheesecake Doughnut, which is the same gingerbread glazed doughnut "with a delicious cheesecake Kreme" inside.

“Everyone on the nice list deserves our delicious, melt-in-your-mouth Gingerbread Glazed doughnuts,” said Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer of Krispy Kreme in a company press release. “We’re happy to bring back this holiday favorite.” We think we'll have to order one of each type of gingerbread glazed doughnut and then throw in some doughnuts from Krispy Kreme's holiday collection (check out the video below) for good measure. And perhaps a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts, just because.

You can learn more about Krispy Kreme's holiday offerings on their website here and order online or pickup here.

As for our dinner plans, rumor has it that doughnuts pair really well with icing and an impromptu gingerbread decorating session. Bring on the holiday music and throw on your favorite festive outfit. It's the molasses wonderful time of year, y'all.
