The country star wants to help preserve the 93-year-old Louisiana theater.
This fall, Louisiana native Kix Brooks — perhaps best known for being one-half of the country duo Brooks & Dunn (with Ronnie Dunn) — is hosting a "Kickin' it with Kix!" benefit to help preserve beloved Franklin Parish establishment, the Princess Theatre. First welcoming guests in 1912 as a vaudeville house and then screening silent movies, the Princess has evolved over the years to become a much-adored live performance venue in Winnsboro, Louisiana.
On Friday, September 28th, Kix will perform a benefit concert at the Princess. You can buy tickets for $25 here. On Saturday, September 29th, Kix will host an event at his nearby farm in Extension, Louisiana. This special gathering, for corporate and individual donors, will be a festive night of dinner, drinks, a live performance by Brooks, and wine from Brooks' wine label, along with the chance to bid in a live auction, like a meet-and-greet and concert tickets to the Reba and Brooks & Dunn Together in Vegas residency on December 8th. "Preserving venues like the Princess – which bring the arts to rural communities – is more important now than ever,” Brooks said in a media statement. “The arts inspire and institutions like this theatre provide a necessary public service and a convenient location to experience live entertainment.”
