Joanna Gaines Is Making Quarantine Cooking Videos to Help Us All Out

First up: chocolate chip cookies.

During these challenging times amidst the coronavirus outbreak, celebrities are doing what they can on social media to help us out. (Plenty of regular people have inspired and entertained us, too, like these residents at a Kentucky retirement community that sang "My Old Kentucky Home" from their balconies.) Some musicians have delighted us with at-home concerts. Actors have read children books.

Now, lifestyle guru Joanna Gaines has come to our aid with a video series to keep us busy during quarantine life. "With life looking quite a bit different than we're all used to, our @magnolia family is looking for ways to focus on how we can make the most of our time spent at home, because honestly there's no better place to be right now—and in the midst of all that's going on, we believe that there is room for connection, creativity, laughter, and inspiration," she wrote in an Instagram post last week. "So here's what we're gonna do: for the next few days, we're going to share a new challenge and/or activity that we can all get in on together and share. To kick it off, Drake has filmed us making the chocolate chip cookie recipe from the first cookbook."

Over the weekend, she shifted gears from savory to sweet and walked us through the Gaines family chili recipe, along with sharing some thoughtful answers to coronavirus-related questions from her children (issues many parents are no doubt grappling with right now). Check out the tutorial—filmed as part of a "Drake and Ella Gaines production"—and enjoy a taste of Waco from afar.

We're grateful little video snippets like these that help to maintain a sense of normalcy during these times give us something to look forward to throughout the week. Speaking of which, what day is it again?
