Joanna Gaines Has the Ultimate "She Shed"
Take a peek inside the mom-of-five's quiet retreat.
Leave it to Joanna Gaines to have the ultimate "she shed."
The Fixer Upper star's new book Homebody is full of photos of her own immaculate Waco farmhouse. From her living room to her kids' rooms, and even her bathroom, the 352-page book offers a rare glimpse into how Gaines made her personal design dreams come true.
Flipping through the beautiful pages, we were struck by one room in particular: her shed.
A gorgeous, light-filled space in the middle of her famous garden, Gaines' "shed" features more charm than most people's entire homes. A long dinner table, a raw-stone fireplace, antique books and fresh-cut flowers create a welcoming vibe in the most unlikely of spaces.
"I designed this shed to be a practical resource within the large garden," Gaines writes in Homebody. "It's also a place where our family can go to work on creative projects, or for gathering and entertaining."
Entertaining? We had to know more.
Sitting down with Southern Living earlier this week, Gaines laughed when the topic of her "shed" came up.
"Everyone's like ‘that's not a shed.' I call it that because a lot of my tools are in there. I guess it's a garden house?"
Call it what you will—we're officially jealous.
"Yes, we'll have dinner parties in there," she confirmed. "It's fun even just as a family."

But the shed is also for her.
"It's also a space where I go and retreat if I want to do some water coloring or some journaling," the mother-of-five added. "It's just, everything's quiet. I can see the garden. But it's also very functional."
