Barbara Bush has touched many lives in her 92 years, and Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, is one of them.

"An incredible lady," McIngvale recently told KTRK, "and an incredible family."

The owner of Gallery Furniture and a hometown Houston hero, McIngvale has known the Bushes for more than 20 years. Like the rest of us, he was deeply saddened to learn of the former first lady's failing health over the weekend.

"She is gracious, and interested in everyone," he told the news station Sunday. "From the person who serves the dinner, to the most important person in the room, that's the kind of person she is."

McIngvale, who became famous for his post-Hurricane Harvey charity work, called Barbara Bush "a force for good."

"I've never said that about anyone before," he told KTRK. "She's been an inspiration. Some of the things we have done are modeled off her leadership. She's an incredible person who's led an incredible life, and an incredible life for good."
