It's a totally intoxicating scent.

There are so many things we adore about Jackie Kennedy, from her genius packing tip to her signature sunglasses. The lovely lady also possessed much wisdom about personal grooming and style. One of the beauty philosophies she's instilled in us? Perfume makes the lady. As Southerners, we love wearing classic perfumes that generations of our family members also donned and we appreciate the subtle joy a scent infuses into our days.

If you're looking to channel your inner Jackie O and mist yourself in her signature perfume, boy, does it dazzle. "Kennedy's preferred fragrance, which she wore daily, came from House of Krigler, a luxury French perfumery founded in 1879. 'Lovely Patchouli 55,' a sensuous perfume with notes of amber, bergamot, patchouli, and leather, was her scent of choice," writes Aubrey Almanza in an article for Town & Country. Unfortunately, smelling like a former First Lady won't come cheap: 3.4 fluid ounces of the fragrance retails for $365.

For something more affordable that still mimics this scent, seek out perfumes with notes of patchouli, amber, musk, red fruits, and vanilla. Or, you know, start checking the job listings at House of Krigler.
