Poached atop a salmon benedict. Folded into a fluffy cheese-and-mushroom omelet. Scrambled to perfection. Present us with a plate of eggs, and we present you with happy customers.

But what if there were a better way to make your go-to eggs and toast combo? Ina Garten has us praising our chicken coops in a recent instagram post spotlighting the signature breakfast duo.

The photo features soft-boiled eggs piled generously on two slices of toast and lavishly sprinkled with dill and coarse sea salt. It may be simple, but we're antsing to try this nuanced creation made for the Barefoot Contessa by her assistant, Lidey Heuck.

"Smashed eggs on toast anyone?? Breakfast? Lunch? Now?!! Thanks @lideylikes!!!" Garten's instagram caption reads. If the accompanying photo featuring an ever-so-slightly runny yolk, fresh herbs, and two glorious pieces of lightly toasted bread don't have you craving eggs, we don't know what will. (Though, if you're looking for some further guidance, our guide of 71 easy egg recipes may inspire.)

For now, we're thinking this protein-packed dish sounds like the perfect lazy Monday night dinner.

Or Tuesday morning breakfast. Or quick weekend lunch for the kids. Or...hearty snack to accompany our next "Barefoot Contessa: Cook Like a Pro" viewing party.
