Record-Breaking Need Has Houston Food Bank Pleading for More Volunteers
Find out how you can help.
The Houston Food Bank is predicting a record-breaking summer—and not in a good way.
Representatives revealed to KTRK that a staggering 10,000 meals are required to feed local families and children this summer.
Day in and day out, the food bank relies on volunteers to feed roughly 800,000 individuals each year. And with summer vacation upon us, America’s largest food bank is in desperate need of more volunteers to keep up with the demand.
According to KTRK, the Houston Food Bank delivers meals to 300 locations throughout the Houston area, providing access to nutritious meals to families who might otherwise go without. And with schools out, the need is greater than ever.

On Tuesday, college students from across the country, including one from Australia, went to work to prepare and package meals for thousands of hungry families. Unfortunately, the Houston Food Bank says more help is still needed.
