We’re calling it now: Ziploc bags are the next big red carpet trend.

Pairing a fitted designer gown with a standard-issue Ziploc bag as a purse, the ever-humble Hoda Kotb took practicality to a whole new level at Tuesday night's TIME 100 Gala in New York City.

After walking the red carpet, Kotb and fellow honoree Savannah Guthrie sat down for an interview with their Today cohost Willie Geist.  Giest couldn’t help but do a double take when he saw Kotb reach into a Ziploc bag for her cellphone.

“Hold up, before we go any further, what’s the bag?” Geist questioned.

Kotb, only a little bit embarrassed, replied with a smile: “It’s my purse.”

"I can't wait for US Weekly to say, 'And the clutch by Ziploc," he joked.

"I can't," Savannah chimed in. "I tried to give her a purse, she doesn't want it."

About last night.... xoxo

"That's all you need,'' Kotb countered. "It's just easier and less complicated!"

Honestly, we think you’re onto something, Hoda!
