Hoda Kotb on Why She's a Better Mom in Her 50s
An inspiration to us all.
Being a mom should always be the time of your life, regardless of when you embark on the journey. At 55, as mama to two young girls, TODAY show co-host Hoda Kotb is indeed having the time of her life.
"That wisdom, patience, stuff we've learned along the way — I'm a better parent now than I ever would have been," said Kotb in an interview with Know Your Value founder and Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski. With her partner Joel Schiffman, the two are now parents to two-year-old Haley Joy and baby Hope Catherine.
Initially, Kotb was fretful about telling Schiffman about her desire to adopt. In her new book, I Really Needed This Today: Words to Live By, Kotb reveals the intimate moment when she first brought it up: "You don't have to tell me right now—take a minute—but I'd like to explore the possibility of adopting a baby with you," she said to Schiffman. "Without skipping a beat," she recalled in the book, "Joel said, 'I don't need a minute. Let's do it.'"
