Thankfully, the TV personality had a change of heart.

Hoda Kotb's pep, warmth, and spirit makes the TODAY show with Hoda and Jenna one of our favorites on morning television. Indeed, it's hard to imagine the show would have half the laughs and heartwarming moments without the 55-year-old co-host and her megawatt personality.

Recently, however, the beloved TODAY show co-anchor opened up to Us Weekly about her ambivalence to return to the studio after her maternity leave this September for her second daughter, Hope Catherine.

"There was probably a minute there where I was thinking to myself, ‘I've worked for, like, 30-plus years of my life and now I get this. Do I really want to be working while I'm doing this?'" she said to the celebrity news outlet at the 23rd annual Turn 2 Foundation Dinner—Derek Jeter's charity to inspire children and teens to avoid drugs and alcohol and achieve academically and personally—earlier this October. "But I think at the end of the day I realized I actually love work, and I want my kids to know that work is an awesome thing."

Kotb wants to instill a strong work ethic in her daughters, Hope Catherine and Haley Joy, and has even begun to plant the seeds in her elder daughter, Haley Joy, who is two-years-old. "Haley said to me when I was leaving for work, ‘Don't go, stay home.' But I said, ‘Mommy loves work,'" Kotb told Us Weekly. "I want her to be a worker."

Indeed, when work involves hanging out with amazing co-hosts, interviewing fascinating people, and spreading joy and hope—just like her daughter's monikers—we see why Kotb adores her daily grind.

We're cheering for you on the other side of the screen, Captain Hoda.
