Hoda Kotb may be newly engaged to her partner Joel Schiffman, but that doesn't mean the talk show star has lost those honeymoon-phase butterflies. In a recent episode of the TODAY show, Kotb shared a sweet anecdote from her personal life with her viewers during a chat with co-host Jenna Bush Hager.

"This morning, I walked downstairs, and it was 4:15 a.m. in the morning, and I'm not kidding, at our kitchen table, there was a card propped up with my name on it. And I looked at it—and Joel was still sleeping—and I opened it," she began, clearly emotional. "And he had taken the time just to write a beautiful card. And I sat at the kitchen table at 4 o'clock reading it. And then he walked down the stairs in a "Sesame Street Dad" shirt to say goodbye to me in the morning, and I go, 'You wrote me a card.'  He's like 'Yeah, I just wanted you to get it before you went.' And I was thinking, first of all, it made me feel so good. And number two, anybody can do that and make someone feel that good. I just could picture him sitting there with a pen trying to think of cool things and pretty things and sweet things to write." Kotb was so moved, she even saved the note to put in her journal. You can watch the full clip here.

We've long believed that a handwritten card is the perfect way to make somebody's day, and it costs little money to make or buy. We hope Kotb and Bush Hager's conversation inspires many to go grab their pens and write some thoughtful notes for their loved ones.
