Ahoy, pirate-loving matey.

It's time to plan a trip to Historic Yorktown, Virginia. Next Month, The Watermen’s Museum and Riverwalk Landing will welcome guests and buccaneers alike to the 12th annual "Pirates Invade Yorktown" event. This year, the lineup of fun-and-mischief-filled events will take place on April 27th and Apil 28th. Activity highlights include quill penmanship, chanty singalongs, canon-firing demos, and more, as originally reported by SaraRose Martin, a staff writer for The Virginia Gazette. Hungry? Grab a bite at the food trucks on-hand or stop by a local restaurant.

“Living here, we hear the stories of pirates who came around these areas and sailed these waters,” Gail Whittaker, York County public information officer, said in The Virginia Gazette's article. “It’s always been something that’s seen as interesting and intriguing. Pirates are fascinating to people.” The event runs from 10:00am to 5:00pm on both days. Visitors can enjoy deck tours of The Schooner Virginia on Friday and The Schooner Alliance will offer cruises available for purchase (you can also reservations at 1-888-316-6422).

Happilly, dressing up like a pirate is encouraged. In fact, you can post a photo to the Visit Yorktown Facebook page featuring your full costume for a chance to win a free Segway tour of Yorktown.

Aye aye, are we excited, pirates and pals.
