One of those films was The Secret Ingredient, which was the first-ever movie adaptation of a Hallmark Publishing original novel. The novel of the same name was published in February of 2019. In the book, Kelly and Andrew were once happily in love and engaged. They are both bakers and together, they created the recipe for a delicious cake, honey almond cake with berries and mascarpone crème fraiche. They both consider it their recipe. The recipe is printed right into the story itself. But their love did not stay as sweet as their confection creation. The engagement ends when Andrew leaves to go to Paris for culinary school. Both the movie and the book move the story five years ahead and we see Kelly, played by Erin Cahill as the owner of a popular bakery and Andrew, played by Brendan Perry is now an executive pastry chef, heading off to New York to help a friend open a restaurant. But the two wind up pitted against each other in a TV baking competition. Whether you've read the book yet, or seen the movie, you can still try and bake like Andrew and Kelly. Hallmark has shared with us and we are sharing with all of you, the recipe for the Honey Almond Cake with Berries and Mascarpone Crème Fraiche. You can find the recipe right here. See the video below and watch star Erin Cahill make the cake on Home & Family and then fire up the stand mixer and give it a whirl.
