Exclusive: Judges for Hallmark’s New Baking Competition Show Have Been Named
If you love baking, Hallmark, and When Calls the Heart, this new show is for you. As we previously reported, Hallmark Drama will debut the network's first original series, Christmas Cookie Matchup this holiday season. The baking competition show will have home bakers teaming up with stars from When Calls the Heart and the duos will duel it out "spatula to spatula" to see who can bake the best Christmas and holiday treats. Each week, one team will be eliminated until one pair is left standing. The home baker on that team will win $25,000.
Hearties will be thrilled to know that Jack Wagner will host the competition and the amateur baker contestants will be sharing their mixing bowls with other WCTH stars Erin Krakow, Pascale Hutton, Kavan Smith, Chris McNally, Kevin McGarry, Paul Greene, and Andrea Brooks.
Today, Southern Living can exclusively announce who will judge these talented pastry perfectionists. While Chadwick Boyd may have been born in Pennsylvania, he is a familiar face to Southern audiences as he has worked alongside acclaimed Southern chef Natalie Dupree and his family has roots in Virginia. He has a deep understanding of Southern cuisine. He also travels nationally with Nashville native, chef Carla Hall for their "Biscuit Time" class. "Y'all know I love baking biscuits but being a judge on Hallmark Drama's Christmas Cookie Matchup brought me back to my full love of baking. I can't wait for you to see these incredible cookies," he said.
Judging alongside Boyd will be self-taught baking expert, Emily Hutchinson. Along with her blog The Hutch Oven, she has shared her baking techniques with television audiences. Her yet to be released new book, Creative Cookie Decorating: Buttercream Frosting Designs and Tips for Every Occasion, which is already a best seller in Amazon pre-sales, focuses on Hutchison's expertise with iced cookie delights. "Cookies are near and dear to my heart for so many reasons. Getting to work as a judge for the 'Christmas Cookie Matchup' on Hallmark Drama was a complete dream come true for me," she said.
