The novel coronavirus pandemic has thwarted countless travel plans, including a once-in-a-lifetime trip a special little boy from Greensboro, North Carolina, was desperately looking forward to.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation planned to send TJ and his family to Walt Disney World for his seventh birthday on March 26. Unfortunately, COVID-19 had other plans. TJ’s long-awaited trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth was canceled when Disney World closed its doors to all visitors on March 16.

But the men and women of the Greensboro Police Department weren’t about to let TJ’s big day pass by without a celebration worthy of the young boy.

Last Thursday, local police officers showed up to TJ's house in grand style. A whole horde of them paraded down the street in front of his house, flashing their lights in a miniature parade.

“GPD wanted to make sure TJ still got to celebrate his birthday in a fun way,” the police department wrote alongside a video of the surprise festivities on Facebook.

After the parade of first responders came to a halt, several officers exited their cars to present TJ with a gift: a shiny new bike.

Happy birthday, TJ!
