8-Year-Old Boy Helps Elderly Woman Climb Flight of Stairs, Steals Our Hearts
Maurice Adams Jr., an eight-year-old from Milledgeville, Georgia, was in a car with his mother and sister over the weekend when he noticed an elderly woman with a walker struggling on a set of steps.
Maurice's mother, Contricia Hill, told WSB-TV that her son first spotted the woman crossing a busy road before attempting the steep stairs.
"He asked, ‘Can I go out there and help her up the steps?'" she said.
So Contricia pulled over and Maurice ran up the stairs, put an arm around the woman, and together they made it to the top. She gave him a hug and the two went on their way.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to any of them, somebody was recording Maurice's good deed from afar. The stranger who caught it on camera, a man named Riley Duncan, shared the video with a community group on Facebook along with a simple, telling caption: "Thank God for our youth."
The short video has since taken the Internet by storm, though Maurice didn't do it for the recognition. The elementary school student only wanted to help someone in need. "She was struggling so I decided to help her," he recalled to WGXA.
It's as simple as that.

Contricia told WSB-TV that they still don't know who the woman is, but the stranger did share a few words with Maurice when they reached the top of the steps.
"She told him that he's special," she said.
Special is right.
