With mandatory evacuations due to Hurricane Florence throughout the Southeast, finding an operating gas station can be a challenge for motorists.

Popular app and website, GasBuddy, is here to help. In preparation of the storm, the company activated their fuel availability tracker in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. "When hurricane features are activated for an area, GasBuddy’s free app can differentiate stations that have no gasoline, no diesel or no power so that motorists can try other stations," explains a company annoucement from September 10th. "The crowdsourced tracker can be updated by motorists and displays the status for locations that have been reported to GasBuddy. Motorists are encouraged to report the status of any station they see to help others find gasoline or avoid stations with no fuel or power."

As a result of these hurricane-related features, the GasBuddy app will automatically display "No Gas," "No Diesel," or "No Power" if you are near a station without gas, diesel, or power in the impacted areas. The station will also be highlighted in red on the map screen.
