Florida Golfer Unfazed by Giant Alligator, Calmly Keeps Golfing
"It seemed like he was doing his own thing."
Professional wakeboarder Steel Lafferty was playing golf at the ChampionsGate Country Club in Orlando on Wednesday afternoon when an unexpected visitor walked across the green.
Lafferty shared a video of a large alligator passing within feet of him on Instagram (below). Neither he nor the gator seem concerned with the other. Lafferty even takes a shot the moment the crocodilian saunters by.
"Golfing in Florida is just different..." he captioned the now-viral video.
Lafferty called his encounter with the alligator, which he estimates was about seven feet long, a "good experience."
"I wasn't too worried," the 27-year-old Florida native told CNN. "I wakeboard professionally so I'm always in the water and I've kind of been around gators my whole life. There was a bit of a worry, but it seemed like he was doing his own thing, so I let him go."

"My shot was really good and that was really the only thing I was worried about," Lafferty continued. "I had to make par on the hole because we had a bet going and I was more worried about winning the bet than getting eaten."
