She first won America’s hearts (and Kevin Arnold’s) as Winnie Cooper in the iconic series, The Wonder Years back in the ‘80s and 90s. Now Danica McKellar is often seen as leading lady in many of our favorite Hallmark movies. Starting October 6th, she’s taking on a brand-new franchise on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries called The MatchMaker Mysteries. McKellar plays a professional matchmaker and reality TV host who finds she also makes a pretty good amateur crime solver. She’s the daughter of a detective, played by Bruce Boxleitner, and it appears that sleuth skills may be genetic.

In the first movie of this series, MatchMaker Mysteries: A Killer Engagement, matchmaker Angie Dove (McKellar) hosts a successful reality show where she shares her gift for helping single people find true love. In matchmaking, Dove draws on her instincts, observational skills, and natural ability to know what is on the hearts of her clients. She prides herself on being able to read people well. But Dove is completely shocked to learn that her friend and client, Aaron Scheller, is accused of murdering his fiancé—a woman he was matched with on Dove’s show. Scheller is played by Randy Thomas, whom you may recognize from The Bold Type. McKellar’s character sets out to clear her friend’s name.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Hallmark movie without a possible love interest. Enter detective Kyle Cooper played by Victor Webster. This straight-laced officer of the law isn’t thrilled that Dove has inserted herself into the investigation, but it quickly becomes clear that these two might just work very well together. Southern Living exclusively has the first look at this new series. Check it out below:
