Dairy Queen's Free Cone Day Is Next Thursday, March 19th

Plus, how to get a Blizzard for 80 cents.

Editor's note: As of March 12th, Dairy Queen is reevaluating the Free Cone Day promotion given the coronavirus pandemic. We will keep you posted as we learn more.

Like the Dairy Queen's tagline reminds us, it's true, "Happy tastes good," indeed. And this month, there's much to look forward to at one of our favorite fast food restaurant chains.

Running now through March 15th, Dairy Queen is offering customers a buy-one-get-one (BOGO) deal with 80-cent Blizzards if you buy one Blizzard at full price. Considering that this month's Blizzard of the Month is the Mint Oreo Cookie Blizzard, you don't have to tell us twice. The limited-time offering is in celebration of DQ's 80th anniversary—the company opened its first store in Joliet, Illinois in 1940.

Then, come March 19th, it gets even better: Participating Dairy Queens across the country will be offering free small vanilla soft-serve to all customers for their sixth annual Free Cone Day, per Taste of Home. Worth noting: The special giveaway is only available at participating stand-alone DQ outposts, and not mall stores. To confirm your local Dairy Queen is honoring the promotion, you may want to call ahead.

If you love the Dairy Queen, check out 10 Things You Didn't Know About Dairy Queen. One of our favorite fun facts for trivia night? Dairy Queen doesn't serve ice cream: As we shared in the piece, "according to the company, soft-serve does not qualify to be called ice cream. To be categorized as ice cream, the minimum butterfat content must be 10 percent, and our soft-serve has only 5 percent butterfat." Well, now we know.

In a competition between Dairy Queen's much-loved line of Blizzard treats and their delightful soft-serve, we'd have a tough time choosing favorites. We guess that means we'll have to head to DQ this month to get our fix of both. Dear readers, share with us: What's your favorite Blizzard flavor of all-time?
