This Texas Dad Came Up With a Solution To His Teen Son's Classroom Misbehavior
But will it work?
When Brad Howard threatened his teenage son with escorting him to physics class if he didn't stop misbehaving, he never thought he would have to go through with it. Then Howard got one more call from his son's physics teacher and found himself back in a high school classroom and teaching his son a valuable lesson.
Howard's son, who is also named Brad, is apparently quite the chatterbox in class. "I like to talk a lot, and so my teacher kept emailing my dad about it," he told BuzzFeed News. Fed up with the reports of his son's misbehavior, Howard came up with an ingenious solution. "For some reason I said, 'Hey, if we get another call I'm going to show up in school and sit beside you in class,'" Howard said. It's just one of those idle threats that parents make in the hope that their kid will just start behaving. Then his son's teacher called again and Howard had no choice but to make good on his word. "My wife wakes me up and says, 'Brad, it's time for you to go to school.' I thought, Oh no, what have I done?" Howard told Buzzfeed.

Howard went through with the school trip, though. He went to his son's physics class and sat right next to him to make sure he paid attention and was respectful to his teacher. Howard snapped a classroom selfie next to his suddenly very studious-looking son and his daughter tweeted it out to the world, illustrating her tweet with the cry-laughing emoji, naturally. The tweet went viral as horrified students and impressed parents shared the story.
Howard said that the teacher was grateful that he made an effort to curb his son's poor classroom behavior, but he has no interest in taking high school physics again. "I pray it was a one-time thing," he said. "I don't think I'd ever do it again."
