WATCH: Peter Millar and Timbers Kiawah Debut Custom Bike Cruisers to Help Save Sea Turtles
The prettiest bikes we ever did see.
Do you have that dear college friend, Ronda, who collects glass and ceramic turtles every where she goes? What about that cousin Barbara who's always volunteering to help with sea turtle conservation efforts? We have just the thing they will both love.
Peter Millar and Timbers Kiawah Ocean Club & Residences have created your dream bicycle—a custom cruiser featuring an original blue-and-white turtle print. The bikes have been created with the singular purpose to help preserve the endangered loggerhead sea turtle. "We wanted the turtle print to evoke a true seaside feeling," said Scott Mahoney, chairman and chief executive officer of Peter Millar to Women's Wear Daily. "We're excited to finally see our new print come to life and for such a good cause."
The cruisers will be on sale to the public for $1,200 in a limited release starting on May 31st, which marks sea turtle nesting season, a time when the cherished animals are most vulnerable. To buy a cruiser, you can call 843.300.1646. All proceeds from the bikes, along with a significant contribution from Timbers Kiawah will be donated to the Town of Kiawah's Turtle Patrol program, which first launched in 1973.
So far, Kiawah and Hilton Head Islands have already spotted sea turtle nests for 2019 as early as last month, including the rare Kemp's ridley sea turtle nest on Hilton Head. This year, we're wishing a safe and fun-filled season for these mythic reptiles.
