Cracker Barrel Surprises 100 Military Mamas-to-Be in the Sweetest Way
Since 2016, Cracker Barrel has partnered with Operation Homefront to help the nonprofit provide support to military families. So far, Cracker Barrel has contributed nearly $900,000 through monetary and in-kind donations to the organization. This month, our favorite Old Country Store took that partnership to rockin' new heights — literally.
At the Southeast Armed Services YMCA in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Cracker Barrel surprised 100 military mothers-to-be with the company's signature rocking chairs. At Operation Homefront's Star-Spangled Babies shower, employees from Cracker Barrel's nearby outposts volunteered to hand out the special gifts to new and expecting mama who are active duty servicewomen and spouses of military members.
"The front porch of each Cracker Barrel store is lined with wooden rocking chairs, and relaxing in these rockers is one of our guests' favorite parts of visiting Cracker Barrel because it reminds them of being at home," said Cracker Barrel Manager of Corporate Citizenship Sloane Lucas in a company press release. "Bringing our beloved rockers to the front porches of military moms-to-be is one way we are expressing our gratitude to them for the sacrifices they make."
Of course, new mamas and expecting parents also enjoyed the opportunity to bond with others going through similar experiences at the shower. In addition to the rockers, guests were gifted toys, baby blankets, and clothes donated through Cracker Barrel's support of Operation's Homefront 2017 Holiday Toy Drive.
Want to get involved? The donated rockers come from Cracker Barrel's annual Operation Rocker campaign, which has led to nearly 2,000 rockers being given to a military family to date. This year's campaign will kick off June 29 and run through Labor Day.
