We can all get a little over zealous when it comes to Costco's free samples, but two older gentlemen recently took things to a whole new level.

The State reports that a cut in line for free samples at a Costco in Greenville, South Carolina, escalated into an all-out fist fight between two senior citizens a few weeks ago.

According to a July 26 incident report, the drama began when a 70-year-old man was waiting innocently in line for a complimentary piece of cheese at the beloved big box store. Everything was fine until a 72-year-old man reportedly "cut him in line, took some cheese and walked off."

Frustrated and presumably still famished, the 70-year-old moved to a line with free samples of cheeseburgers. Police say that's when he saw the same 72-year-old approaching. According to the incident report, the 70-year-old man told the other man that "he could get in front of him because he knew he would just cut the line anyway."

The 72-year-old man reportedly responded by saying "I will do it again! You're a jerk."

The troublemaking 72-year-old then hit the 70-year-old in the right side of his head, sending his hat and glasses flying.

An employee working at the cheeseburger sample stand confirmed the 70-year-old's account to the police recalling that a "man in a Hawaiian shirt hit the other man in the head and it sounded very loud, and that the man's hat flew off his head."

The State reports that the sample-loving culprit had already fled the scene by the time police arrived, but when they caught up with him 72 hours later, he didn't deny the altercation. Instead, he insisted that he was provoked, and that he thought the younger man was going to hit him because he was "balling his fist."

Greenville Police Department Public Affairs Manager Donald Porter told The State that no arrests have been made in the incident, but they are continuing their investigation.

Be careful out there, y'all!
