Corolla Wild Horse Fund Welcomes Beautiful New Foal to Outer Banks Herd

The Corolla Wild Horse Fund is celebrating the birth of a beautiful fall foal!

The foal's arrival was announced on Facebook Wednesday before its gender was known. In a follow-up post, CWHF revealed that the baby horse, a beautiful bay, is in fact a little girl they named Alejandra.

"We have been hoping we might get a few fall babies," herd manager Meg Puckett wrote alongside photos of the sweet family.

Most importantly, Alejandra seems to be in "great shape."

The nonprofit fund that oversees the herd of roughly 100 wild horses that roams the Outer Banks is giving all 2020 foals 'A' names in honor of Amadeo, the beloved, 40-year-old blind mustang who died in March.

CWHF celebrated the birth of its first foal of 2020, a bay with two socks and a star named Arturo, in April.

If you're hoping to catch a glimpse of Alejandra, think again. For the time being, neither her location nor the names of her parents will be released to ensure that the new family "can bond in quiet safety."

"If you are lucky enough to see them, please give them plenty of space," the fund warned.

Even though they resemble their domesticated brethren physically, wild horses are above all, wild. Experts advise staying at least 50 feet away at all times and never, ever feed them.
