Not all gas station bathrooms are created equal, but when nature calls, nature calls. Luckily, in a valiant effort to make the best of the unfortunate fact of life that is the dreaded road-trip bathroom break, GasBuddy has released a handy list of gas stations with the cleanest restrooms in every state just in time for summer road trip season.
GasBuddy is an app that tracks the lowest gas prices at stations across the USA. It also collects user reviews of the facilities along the way. According to a recent GasBuddy survey, 64% of respondents said one of their worst fears about a road trip is the need to use the restroom and not knowing when the next one will be available. To help drivers decide where to steer their cars in moments of need, they compiled a list of stations that score at least three out of five stars from its users, who, we might add, have left nearly 1.5 million reviews of more than 140,000 gas stations and travel plazas.
“Today’s customers expect more than a key attached to a hubcap or a sign informing visitors that restrooms are for ‘paying customers only’,” said Frank Beard, convenience store and retail trends analyst at GasBuddy. “As someone who has visited more than 1,000 c-stores in 24 states, I’ve seen that many leading convenience stores have already separated themselves from the competition by making restroom quality a priority.”
