This Is Us Star Chrissy Metz Officially Has a Country Music Record Deal

This Is a win for all of Us.

On-screen, we're always cheering on Chrissy Metz, who does a masterful job playing Kate Pearson on the hit NBC show, This Is Us. Now, our ears our rooting for her, too, as we've learned the actor has signed with country music big-timers, Universal Music Group Nashville.

Much like her character, Kate, Metz is also a singer. In case you missed her stunning performance, Metz showed off her vocal prowess at the Academy of Country Music Awards last spring with an arresting rendition of "I'm Standing With You," from Breakthrough, the 2019 movie from 20th Century Fox, that she starred in as Joyce Smith. Now, UMG Nashville, the very label she worked with on that movie soundtrack, has now signed her as an artist, alongside label-mates like Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina, Maddie & Tae, and Mickey Guyton. Currently, Metz is hard at work on her debut country album, which is scheduled to be released later this year.

"To say I am excited to fulfill a lifelong dream is an understatement," Metz said of the announcement in a press release from UMG Nashville. "Music has always been my first love and to be working alongside [UMG Nashville President Cindy Mabe] and the incomparable team at UMG is truly a gift!"

"Chrissy Metz is simply tapped into America's emotional conscience," Mabe stated in the same media statement. "Music was her first love and no matter if she's singing, acting, writing or just being, she's always real, powerful and fully connected with her audience. I can't wait to put her musical story into the world and I'm so inspired to bring her into the Universal Music Group Nashville family."

With a magnificent voice and charisma that has long stolen our hearts, we can't wait to have our hands on this new music.
