Well, we knew Chip and Jo would have a spectacular Christmas tree like we knew Ree Drummond would come to our rescue for how to use up all that leftover pumpkin purée. What we didn't know was how heart-melting a note Jo would scribe regarding the family fir.

Of course, the handsomely decorated tree is a sight to behold. The festive gold-and-red color scheme. The twinkling lights. The simple white stand mat. Is that a gingerbread house we spy?

But what really makes our spirits sing is the sentimental note Jo penned on instagram sharing what the tree means to her.

"This family tree gets me every time. Emmie asked why I always get so sad when we put this tree up and I told her it's a good kinda sad. I explained these memories on this tree are so sweet and time just goes by so fast," Jo wrote, capturing the sadness-tinged nostalgia that trimming the tree can elicit. "This tree is full of firsts for each of us, many meaningful ornaments, and lots of handmade who knows what. It's my favorite and I treasure this time every year."

So it's time to break out that felt Santa Claus you fashioned out of a thimble in pre-school and Uncle Andy's mini wreaths once again, our friends. Reflect on the Christmas celebrations of yesteryear, and look forward to the ones ahead. Thanks for the reminder to live in the moment, Mrs.Gaines.
