In a blind taste test, we're guessing 9 out of 10 Southerners could identify the original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. But what makes this sandwich so special? Turns out, many factors contribute to its one-of-a-kind flavor.
As a Chick-fil-A blog post revealed, the cooking method of the sandwich is unique. The original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich is cooked in a commercial pressure cooker for a "juicy, tender boneless chicken breast from start to finish in just four minutes." It's also worth noting that the chicken is cooked in 100% refined peanut oil, while other fast food joints tend to use soybean oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, and others. Currently, we're more than 50 years out from the debut of the sandwich in 1964, and "the company is the largest buyer of peanut oil in the country."

As the article goes on to explain, the original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich also uses a "secret breading recipe" which uses more than 20 spices to give patrons that signature flavor. Of course, no original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich would be complete without two dill pickle slices and the tangy edge they offer.
