If you think a lot goes into throwing a bridal shower, consider what it would take to host 170 royals and dignitaries for a lavish, white-tie dinner in a 319-year-old home.

Spoiler: a whole heck of a lot.

The royal family took to social media to reveal a rare behind-the-scenes look at the 24 hours of preparation involved in Monday night’s State Banquet for President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania at Buckingham Palace.

A series of photos begins with a long table in the process of being set. A palace attendant can be seen careful placing a piece of gilded flatware among the candelabras and verdant floral arrangements. The next two photos share a look at the elaborate assembly required of the ornate candelabras, while two more show the royal florists hard at work crafting the pretty floral centerpieces.

One final photo, shared moments before the festivities began, reveals an up-close look at the incredible finished product.

Today reports that guests dined on halibut with watercress mousse, asparagus spears and chervil sauce, followed by Windsor lamb with herb stuffing, spring vegetables and a port sauce. Dessert was a decadent strawberry sable with lemon verbena cream.
