That's a lot of zeroes.

We all have that one friend who worked at Costco. Maybe it was a labor-intensive unpacking gig one summer in college. Maybe they've worked at the corporate headquarters in Issaquah, Washington. Maybe they've worked their way up the ladder at your local Costco. Hopefully, they give you all the juicy secrets on how Costco gets you to spend a ton of money. But they likely aren't dishing on one thing: their salary.

Recently, Reader's Digest fulfilled that curiosity for us and revealed some intel on the average annual salary for a Costco store manager. "The average annual salary for a Costco general manager in the U.S. is currently $138,000," Costco's Executive Vice President of Administration, Pat Callans told Reader's Digest. But it gets even better, combine that base salary with "bonus and stock-based compensation, and a Costco GM can earn approximately triple that amount," Callans continues. If you think that's a lot, Biz Journals reported that CEO Craig Jelinek made $6.6 million in total compensation for the fiscal year of 2017.

Hmm, it may very well be time for us to consider a career pivot into the retail industry, ladies and gentlemen. We wonder what kind of Coscto employee discounts are available.
