“He's been here since 10th grade, so he's earned it.”
Tyler McCready’s dog Sinatra has been by his side since 10th grade, and this past weekend was no different. Dressed in his own cap and gown, Sinatra was right by Tyler’s side as they graduated together from Rose Bud High School in Arkansas.
Sinatra is cute and all, but he also has an important job to do. As a diabetic alert dog, it’s Sinatra’s duty to let Tyler, who has Type I diabetes, know when his blood sugar is high or low.
“He will paw and alert him that his sugar is dropping. And usually the dog is a little bit quicker than the diabetic equipment that he's got,” Jerry McCready, Tyler’s dad, told KTHV.
Not long after Tyler was diagnosed in 2012, his family set up a Go Fund Me page to help raise money for a service dog. A few weeks later, Sinatra was his.

Sinatra, whose miniature cap and gown matched his owner’s perfectly, plans to continue his education at Florida’s Full Sail University with Tyler in the fall.
