WATCH: Anthony Bourdain Is Obsessed with This Southern Fast Food Chain
It's one of our favorites, too.
Everybody has a little bit of Bourdain in them. The pack-your-bag-lets-go lifestyle has a certain allure. But the famous TV travel host who catches his thrills all over the globe — from South Africa to Greece — knows that the best fast food hails from our neck of the woods.
And what, praytell, is that? Popeyes, of course. The Louisiana-founded, Atlanta-headquartered chain doles up some of the best fried chicken and fixins' around, and Bourdain isn't shy about proclaiming his love. He's been known to express his adoration for the chain (such as in this popular Reddit "Ask Me Anything" thread), and he's now taken that love letter to even greater heights.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Bourdain elaborates on what makes Popeyes so special to him. "To me, Popeyes is exotica," he tells PEOPLE in this week's issue, which hits newsstands Friday. "I was eating noodles and roast goose and Chinese food for the past 10 days. So to be back and eat some Americana food, well, I will weep with gratitude at macaroni and cheese." At the last remaining U.S location with a buffet in Lafayette, Louisiana, Bourdain loaded up on mac and cheese, spicy fried chicken, biscuits and gravy with a Dr. Pepper fountain soda. He went three times in three days.
Can you blame him?
