It might get a bad rap, but the United States remains committed to its most controversial vegetable.

For the second year in a row, broccoli ranks as America’s favorite vegetable—no salad frosting required.

An open-ended survey of more than 5,000 Americans conducted by Green Giant found that broccoli continues to hold the number one spot as the country’s favorite vegetable… by a long shot. A whopping 39 states chose the green veg as their favorite.

According to a news release from Green Giant, this year, even more states favored broccoli than in 2018, further cementing its place as America's favorite.

Casualties reportedly include the potato, which was only the favorite vegetable of one state (Arkansas) in 2019, compared to five states that chose it in 2018. This year, cucumber also experienced a fall from grace. Last year it was the state favorite of New Mexico and Louisiana. Like South Carolina, Louisiana now reportedly favors corn.'
