As much as we love jazzy new kitchen tools and a complicated cooking project—only when it’s worth it, like say, our latticed triple-berry cobbler—we will never retire the basics that got us there, like a slow cooker and an easy dump recipe. The humble kitchen appliance makes it so you don’t have to worry, stress, simmer, or stir. You merely set it and forget it, until a slow cooker superstar is made in just four to eight hours. Mississippi pot roast, anyone?

So color us not surprised when even the super popular Instant Pot can’t always outrun the classics. While we appreciate the pressure cooker and all of its quick-cooking, time-saving prowess, particularly thanks to these delicious Instant Pot recipes, we will never give up on the old-fashioned slow cooker—and apparently neither can shoppers. Instant Pot’s slow cooker has been getting its own share of praise and online search by shoppers, and it certainly lives up to the hype.

The slow cooker in question: the Instant Pot Aura 10-in-1 Multi-Use Slow Cooker. This multi-cooker might fly under the IP flag, but it isn’t actually a pressure cooker. Instead, it’s the update to your old slow cooker that you never knew you needed—until now. It’s got all the functionality of a classic slow cooker, plus some other seriously useful features. Like being able to sear meat before switching to slow-cooker mode, which many pot roasts and other red meat slow-cooker recipes call for. Also, it can roast a whole chicken with the roast setting. Not to mention, it can double as a rice cooker, a venture that can be a little dicey in some slow cookers. All in all, there are 10 different function settings. That’s a whole Christmas dinner, people.

When you’re finished, use the dishwasher-safe setting—kidding—for easy cleanup. (It is dishwasher-safe, though.) At over 2,000 Amazon reviews and counting, it has started to garner its own following outside of the shadow of the Instant Pot. And we all love a dark horse! This one’s worth adding to the birthday or holiday wish list.

So if you’re interested in seeing all that a boring old slow cooker can do, this spaceship of a appliance will show you just that. In fact, we’ve already got some slow-cooker supper recipes in mind.

Now if only it had a “set the table” setting, we’d really be impressed. For now, pot roast will do.
