Naturally Dyed Easter Eggs

Upgrade your Easter egg game with these luxe-looking (but secretly simple!) marbled eggs.

Materials

-Fresh or frozen blueberries
-White vinegar
-Eggs
-Gentle Tape (found at your pharmacy)
-Graphite pencils
-Paintbrush (small)
-Silver leaf sheets
-Spray fixative or aerosol hair spray
-Cooling rack
-Olive oil

Preparation:
1. Add 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries to 2 cups of boiling water. Boil for 8 to 10 minutes or until blueberries break down and dye is dark blue. Let pot settle to room temperature, and then add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar.

2. Strain the dye mixture.

1. Hard-boil eggs, and allow to cool. Cover portions of the egg with the gentle tape and/or rubber bands. Press gently all the way around for best results.

2.Place eggs in small cup of dye for 1 to 4 hours until desired color is reached. Remove and let dry on a cooling rack or in egg carton. For deeper color, let soak overnight.

3. Remove the tape. Gently pat the egg with a paper towel, which should begin the marbled effect.

4. Use graphite pencils to create interesting marbled effects. Smear markings with a wet paintbrush.

Add pieces of silver leaf while slightly wet. Lightly cover the egg with olive oil to create shine.
