The Little Touch That Could Make a Big Difference in Your Bathroom's Decor
Choose unvarnished, brushed, matte, or woven items for a warm and intriguing effect.
From wildly popular grass cloth wallcoverings to aged-looking metals, we're choosing warmer options because ofthe character and substance they lend. "I've been using more antique or brushed-brass finishes in hardware and other accents; they give a room that wonderful old-world feel and patina," says Courtney Giles, a Southern Living Designer Network member located in Atlanta. Similarly, shiny chrome plumbing fixtures are no longer the default options for kitchens and baths. "Southern customers are loving warmer finishes on contemporary faucet lines—including matte black and brushed bronze," notes Amy Zboralski, global specifications executive at Kohler Co.
Adding textured wall coverings or swapping out the fixtures in your bathroom can feel like a big undertaking. For a quick update, try changing your cabinet hardware or even creating vignettes of found objects in different textures. Here are some of our favorite hardware options to switch things up throughout your house.
