We went behind the scenes with SL Editor-At-Large James Farmer at his Perry, Georgia cottage to talk about his best tips and tricks for holiday entertaining. We all know that a counter needs paper towels and soap, so why not prop them nicely? James is sharing his ideas for keeping counter essentials close, but also displayed in an elegant way.
I love when we open the pages of Southern Living we see beautiful homes, and we see countertops that are uncluttered. But y'all, we still gotta have some stuff on our countertops, this farmer notwithstanding. So for me, I love to create a vignette from the things that I use. Grouping things together helps keep it from being too cluttered. In this case I've used a silver tray, I've put together my handsoap, my dishsoap, some lemons that I'll use, Just for some drinks later on. I've put a little flower in a trophy vase [INAUDIBLE] The paper towels. I love it that the paper towels are right there with everything else. They're clustered together. It's kind of your own little stylized [INAUDIBLE] right from the pages of Southern Living that can be on your [MUSIC] Kitchen counter, too. So use it for the holidays. Use it all year 'round. But make it fun. Because, y'all. We've all got a roll of paper towels on there. We might as well make it pretty.
