Five Photos that Prove Chip and Joanna's Kids Have the Decorating Gene
Since Chip and Joanna Gaines don’t keep a TV in their home, their kids may not quite realize just how much America is currently obsessed with their parents. But that doesn’t mean the entrepreneurial careers of their parents haven’t rubbed off on them. The couple runs a small empire of creative ventures out of Waco, Texas: their TV show ‘Fixer Upper,’ on HGTV; their precious brick-and-mortar (and online!) shop, Magnolia Market; a magazine; a real estate business; and the project we’re currently drooling over, a soon-to-be breakfast place.
When we saw the girls, Emmie and Ella, following Joanna’s lead in getting their house ready for the holiday season, we knew this was no average decorating situation. And the boys, Duke and Drake, are pretty handy to have around too; we noticed them tag-teaming with dad at work last year. Here, five photos proving these kids—and their projects—might be worth keeping an eye on. (And not because they’re stirring up trouble!)
Stealthy Christmas Decorators
Decorating for the holidays is no easy affair. Joanna enlisted the help of her girls, captioning her post, “Snuck the girls out of bed so they could help me with the big tree... Trying to be quiet as mice so we don't wake any of the boys!”
Hard Work in Hard Hats
Ella is clearly already well-versed in color palettes beyond your classic Crayola pack. Joanna says, “She created all of these colors from scratch today! My little design bud at work.”

Okay, we can barely fix a loose button correctly…and these girls are already quilting! Joanna said, “The girls have been taking sewing lessons for a year now and for the last few weeks they have been talking about a surprise they are making. They finally finished this week and I just love this quilt and so do their ‘students’ they are reading to!”
Design Mind in Training
It looks like we might truly have a future decorator on our hands. Joanna writes, “She asked me if she could be a designer when she grows up... “
