House Plan 2003 Is The Most Charming Cottage We Ever Did See
Sneak a peek inside the Evergreen Cottage.
Take a look at the swoon-worthy Evergreen Cottage (Plan SL-2003) by Lake & Land Studio. You might recognize the name of this Mississippi-based design team from their work with Erin and Ben Napier on HGTV’s Home Town series. (Lake & Land also designed the Hawthorn Cottage, which is another one of our favorite small-space house plans.) The three-bedroom, two-and-half-bath Evergreen Cottage would fit seamlessly into a lakeside lot or a rural piece of farmland.
It wouldn’t be a Southern cottage without a porch, and this plan has three. Step up to the welcoming front porch, with plenty of room for a swing and seasonal container gardens. Around back, the 310-square-foot screened porch is made for the kind of indoor-outdoor living Southerners love most. Along with letting in loads of natural light, French doors open from the inside’s main living areas out to the back porch. Rain or shine, residents will want to spend all their time here.
At just under 2,000 square feet, this house plan is spacious enough to fit the entire family comfortably (go ahead and invite grandparents too!). Inside, find an open concept layout, with the kitchen and dining space transitioning seamlessly into the living area. Residents can admire the beauty of the cottage’s outdoor setting through the tall windows surrounding the living area. Tucked into the back corner of the first floor is the secluded master suite.

The second story maximizes every inch of available square footage. Two additional bedrooms open up to a loft area—an ideal hangout spot for kids. From the loft, access a terrace that overlooks the back of the house. Situated just off the open loft space is a cozy bunk hall, which provides even more space for sleeping extra guests.
