Tour the living room of the 2009 Texas Idea House with decorating editor Jennifer Berno.
[MUSIC] The living room is on the second floor of the house. In fact, all the public spaces of the house are actually on the second floor. Because the room is so long it can be a little awkward to furnish. Especially since one side of the room connects to the kitchen. The other side is all glass. Doors and windows that lead out on to a porch. There's a sofa and coffee table that face where you would normally hang a flat screen TV. But she instead hung artwork from a local artist that depicts a pelican, and pelicans are actually all over Port Aransas, so it's reflective of the environment. Behind the sofa is a set of four club chairs that surround an Ottoman. All of this furniture is slip covered, which is perfect for such a casual space. They're washable and easy to take care of. Paige was inspired by the Texas sunsets and the ocean when she chose her color scheme. So the white lashed walls are a great backdrop for beautiful artwork with lots of color. And then the white slip covered sofa is accented with beautiful embroidered pillows, with shades of aqua and persimmon. And then behind that on the club chairs are pillows that are sort of in a tropical print that have those same aqua and persimmon colors. She also found a vintage chair that she had reupholstered in the same tropical fabric used on the decorative pillows. And then she painted the frame in the persimmon color having at least one old piece. It really adds a lot to a brand new. The grommeted curtains across the windows and doors in the living room are solid white cotton trimmed with a full persimmon border. And then that same color is used on the lamp shades on the two floor lamps between the sofa, and the four chair seating area. Anywhere in the living that you are standing you can see out to a view of the Golf. In fact, you can actually walk outside onto a side porch from the living room. It's outfitted with adirondack chairs. And sleek little ceramic garden stools and this is just the perfect place to watch the sunset and, finish your day on the beach.
