Interior Designer Bunny Williams shares where she sourced her decorating inspiration for the 2015 Southern Living Idea House in her hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia.
People say are you a decorator or a designer? And, I feel that I'm a designer who decorates. I'm Bunny Williams, I am the interior designer for the 2015 Southern Living Idea House. I'm very excited to be working on this house because I happen to have grown up in Charlottesville, Virginia. I was born there. Had a wonderful childhood. And it was living in Charlesville that really exposed me to, what I consider, fabulous poems and gracious living. And it's what made me really want to be an Interior Designer. You start in any project with the design, and it's absolutely essential that you get the backgrounds right, the architecture right, the plans right, and then what makes the house come alive is the decoration. No matter what the style of a house is, there are things that just work for people and make living Much more inviting, make a room much more inviting. Every chair has a little table next to it, we have proper lighting to sit down. And wanna read the paper, there's a light next to you. The furniture is some antique furniture and some modern furniture. And this is what I hope will. Give the feeling that the house will never be dated. The house is a stone house. It's traditional in nature, beautiful textures, beautiful bay windows, and this house is out in the country. I mean the views of the master bedroom window are rolling hills and Black Angus cattle. It was just extraordinary. It's a very special spot. [MUSIC]
