Gov. Nikki Haley is opening her home to the public for a Christmas spectacular
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is upholding a beloved state tradition this holiday season.
Palmetto State governors have opened up the Governor's Mansion to the public for 35 years running, inviting citizens to experience the estate’s stunning Christmas decorations, done annually by The Columbia Garden Club.
This year, the club worked for about a week to decorate the mansion with a trio of live Christmas trees from South Carolina farms and poinsettias grown by the Future Farmers of America from Lexington Technology Center in time for today’s open house, the Associated Press reports.
“Our family invites yours to enjoy holiday festivities tomorrow evening at your Governor's mansion from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM,” Haley wrote on Facebook Sunday. “The event is free to all, but we ask you to please consider bringing canned goods to be donated to Harvest Hope Food Bank. There will be carols, one of a kind South Carolina decorations and lots of cheer—we hope to see you there!!”
Gingerbread houses made by the resident chefs will also be on display.
