There's nothing like a good old fashioned holiday light display, and Christmas lights in Dallas and the Fort Worth area are home to some of the best in the nation. Whether you're looking to rove around the city's festive neighborhoods or take a magical motorcoach ride, these fabulous light exhibitions andDallas Christmas events are perfect for the whole family.

Christmas Tour of Lights

The Christmas Tour of Lights drive-through features more than half a million flashing lights -- making it one of North Texas' longest animated shows. The drive is set to holiday music and ends with a grand finale that includes a visit from Santa Claus. The Tour begins at Valley View Lane and Interstate 35, and continues through the Farmers Branch Historical Park where the lights incorporate the historic buildings.

Christmas Lights, Chocolate and Sips Tour

The Christmas Lights, Chocolate and Sips Tour lets you see some of the best light scenes the city has to offer in a private motorcoach. You'll stop at the Park Cities and the Vitruvian Lights in Addison, downtown Dallas, or Lake Highlands. The tour includes samples of treats from local dessert shops, hot cider, and hot chocolate. Book online in advance, as tours sell out quickly.

Deerfield

This Plano neighborhood display is one of the largest in the area, thanks to a long-held contest among residents. Decorations include everything from penguins to glittering gift boxes. Cars are free to tour the streets along suggested routes (which you download from their website), or you can reserve a carriage through NorthStar Carriages.

Santa Land

Christmas in Dallasisn't complete without a trip to Santa Land. For twenty years, this huge drive-through park features more than 2.5 million lights spread across 24 acres, including the Twirling Tunnel of Lights and dancing Christmas trees. Trailer rides are available, too.

The Lights at Interlochen

The festive Lights at Interlochen have become a must-see attraction for families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area during the holidays. More than 200 homes in the neighborhood go all out hoping to win honors, such as the Griswold Award. The route begins at the intersection of Randol Mill and Westwood Drive.

Texas Motor Speedway Gift of Lights

Gift of Lights features 2 million LED lights in 600 holiday displays that you can drive through at Texas Motor Speedway. At the end, visit Santa's Village for photos with Santa. The event benefits local charities such as Ronald McDonald House and Speedway Children's Charities.

Magic of Christmas Light Show Spectacular

The Dallas suburb of Grapevine has been referred to as the Christmas capital of Texas. One trip to the Magic of Christmas Light Show Spectacular and you'll see why. In addition to the millions of lights strung throughout the streets, there is a Christmas parade (the Parade of Lights) and the Twinkle Light Boat Parade on Lake Grapevine.

Prairie Lights

The Prairie Lights drive-through show features more than four million lights over the course of two miles. Midway through, pull over at Holiday Village for concessions, rides, photo ops with Santa, a laser light show, and a walk-through light display that highlights international holiday traditions.
