Searching for snow in the South? Look no further than Andalusia, Alabama, just 25 miles north of the Alabama-Florida border. This small town goes all out when it comes to celebrating the Christmas season. Andalusia's historic courthouse square transforms into a winter wonderland of epic proportions thanks to snow machines and a little imagination. The best part, besides the snow? Andalusia's Christmas in Candyland is open every weekend in December with no charge for admission.

Prepare to frolic in the snow—but know that you can leave the scarves and hats at home due to warm winter temps. Even though there's no need to bundle up, the outdoor ice-skating rink and snow-tubing hill rival any that you'll find north of the Mason-Dixon. The Polar Bear Tubing Hill is brand new to Candyland this season, and you have your pick of two 100 ft. racing lanes, so be sure to bring a friend for a little festive competition.

Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in December are packed with fun winter activities. Enjoy the Snow Show Spectacular and Candyland Village playground, plus Santa on the Square, an afternoon spent sipping hot cocoa and taking photos with beloved Christmas characters. The snow show is always a family favorite: It creates a 20-minute blizzard in 60-degree weather with fantastic flurries of miniscule bubble clusters shaped like snowflakes.

Kids will love Candyland Village, which is filled with themed play cottages, each sponsored by a community organization or local business. Hop on one of the fun-filled train rides, catch a festive light show, and—after all of the day's excitement—settle in for one of the Christmas movies shown on Friday evenings. Check the calendar for screenings, which include family classics such as A Christmas Carol, Elf, and It's a Wonderful Life.

Don't miss the snow in South Alabama this year—it's a winter wonderland the whole family will love. For more information, explore the Christmas in Candyland site and events calendar. Enjoy a snow-dusted Christmas deep in the heart of Alabama, and plan your visit soon.
