The Coziest Winter Nail Colors for January 2022

The Coziest Winter Nail Colors for January 2022

The beginning of a new year often has us all feeling like starting off fresh by taking on better habits, getting rid of old ones, and—most commonly—changing up our look. While others are hitting the squats and going into the salon for a pixie cut, why not start slow and steady with a cozy winter manicure in a color that feels new to you? It takes only a little courage to step outside your usual OPI Lincoln Park After Dark or Essie Bordeaux, which is all you need to kick 2022 off on a fanciful foot.  From new wintry takes on classic dark nail colors to unique pops of color that'll have you feeling the opposite of boring, these are the best nail colors to try this January and tick off all the way into spring.

16 Kitchen Design Trends Southern Designers Predict Will Be Everywhere in 2022

16 Kitchen Design Trends Southern Designers Predict Will Be Everywhere in 2022

There's no denying how the pandemic fundamentally changed the world—including how we live (and work) inside our homes. An overall trend toward celebrating the history and originality of our homes is displacing ultramodern aesthetics and sharp lines as we all look to create cozier, colorful, more personalized spaces that better suit our lifestyles. We're turning away from big-box stores and toward vintage items—first, out of necessity due to supply-chain issues, and now, for design reasons—to add charm and character to every room in the house, including the kitchen. Here, interior designers from around the South share their predictions for what's trending in kitchen design for 2022 and beyond.

Anyone can pick a Southern child out in a crowd. If she's wearing something smocked, monogrammed, or specifically designed to show off chubby baby thighs, chances are she's a Southern baby. As a new mom, I'm always on the lookout for the best sources for classic children's clothes that won't send my husband reeling over the price of 9-month-size bubble. But, as we all know, shopping for kids can be hard. Whether you're looking for toddler clothes or hunting for that well-appointed children's shop to find future heirlooms, sometimes the whole process can leave you ready to never set food in another kids store again. Avoid that hassle, throw your feet up, and bring the stores to you instead. Here are a few of my go-to Southern-based kids online stores that you need to know about—if you don't already!

Bagsy

If you have caviar taste on a Gerber budget check out high-end consignment shop Bagsy. They carry iconic Southern brands like Alice Kathleen, Auraluz, and The Beaufort Bonnet Company. You'll also be able to snag items listed "NWT" (new with tags) for a portion of the regular retail price. This is definitely one to visit daily as they're constantly getting new stock. For a little extra cash to fuel your pint-sized shopping habit, Bagsy will sell your little one's outgrown duds for you. You can opt for store credit or receive your payout via PayPal.

Bella Bliss

One of the first baby gifts I received was a sweet-as-can-be Bella Bliss collared pima footie. It had buttons across the rear that proved both charming and entirely useful for quick diaper changes. In addition to easy online ordering, Bella Bliss also can be found stocked in boutiques across the South.

Brother and Sissy Children's Boutique has a retail location, but their online inventory is impressive enough to warrant inclusion on this list. In-stock items run the gamut from adorable embroidered playsuits to heirloom collections perfect for weddings, Easter, and Christmas.

Smocked Threads by Cecil and Lou

Smocked Threads by Cecil and Lou is the most affordable source I've found for seasonal jammies and classic smocked items like dresses, bubbles, and jon jons. They'll monogram just about anything for a $9 fee. Cecil & Lou is also a great spot to order preppy swim trunks for baby boys—which my fellow Southern mamas know can be hard to find.
