How To Boil an Egg
Step 1: Place Eggs in Saucepan
Place eggs in a single layer in a stainless steel saucepan. Don't use a nonstick pan because they aren't designed to be heated at high temperatures.
Step 2: Add Water
Add water to pan to a depth of 3 inches. Bring to a boil; cook 1 minute.
Step 3: Cover Pan
Cover pan; remove from heat. Let stand 10 minutes; drain. Set a timer to be sure eggs aren't overcooked.
Step 4: Place Eggs in Cold Water
Place eggs under cold running water until cool enough to handle. Add some ice cubes to speed up the process.
Step 5: Tap and Peel Eggs
Tap eggs on counter until cracks form; peel. (Peeling under cold water is often easiest.)
