Romantic Menus and Wine Pairings

Southern Living Food Editors / Wine recommendations by Scott Jones / Menus by Jerry Allison

Treat your sweetheart to one of these romantic meals coupled with our favorite wine pairing.

Beef Menu

Wine Pairing: Perrin, Côtes du Rhône, France

You don’t need a special occasion to surprise your sweetheart. And why not do it with Pan-seared Flat Iron Steak? Pair it with a French Côtes du Rhône like Perrin. Then make the night extra sweet with Classic Crème Brûlée.

Seafood Menu

Wine Pairing: La Vieille Ferme, Rosé, France

For a romantic meal from the ocean, try our Mediterranean Salmon With White Beans. Pair it with a French Rosé like La Vieille Ferme. For an extraordinary dessert serve Champange-Poached Pears.

Vegetarian Menu

Wine Pairing: Concha y Toro, Carmenère, Chile

Nothing is more romantic than Italian food. Light candles, bring out the nice china, and serve Eggplant Parmesan. In the wine glass, serve a Carmenère from Chile like Concha y Toro. Don't forget dessert with Cream Puffs with Chocolate Sauce.

Poultry Menu

Wine Pairing: Pepperwood Grove, Viognier, California

This isn't the engagement chicken that some women swear will get you hitched, but our Lemon-Thyme Roasted Chicken is still tasty and tender. Serve it with a Californian Viognier like Pepperwood Grove. End the night with a bang with Double Coffee Tiramisu.

Pork Menu

Wine Pairing: Covey Run, Merlot, Washington

Fire up that grill and show your significant other your skills by making a Grilled Pork Chops with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Serve it with a Washington Merlot like Covey Run. Top the night off with So-Easy Chocolate Soufflé and you are sure to keep the burning love.
