Walt Disney himself enjoyed a version of this soul-soothing recipe.

It may be summer. It may be nine billion degrees. It may be peak ice cream season. But hey, you still gotta eat dinner. And right now, comfort food is really hitting the spot. That's why we were thrilled to see that the Disney Parks Blog shared a variation of Walt Disney's personal go-to chili and beans in honor of the 65th anniversary of Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, California.

"Not one for highly seasoned or spicy cuisine, Walt enjoyed food that was hardy and filling, and this dish fit the bill," the recipe's introduction reads, noting that a few versions of Walt's personal Chili and Beans recipe can be found in the Walt Disney Archives, going back to around 1958.

"Over the years, Disney chefs have refined the recipe for park guests, and today we are sharing the recipe served at Carnation Café at Disneyland park," the post continues. Though the recipe from Carnation Café packs some more heat than the original version Walt loved, chili lovers will surely be impressed nevertheless.

With a base of beef and pinto beans, the chili recipe includes onion, green pepper, and garlic, along with plenty of tomatoes in three forms: fresh diced tomatoes, canned, and paste. For additional flavoring, the chili gets a boost from seasonings like ground cumin, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and more. For toppings, the dish is finished off with sour cream, cheddar cheese, and—you guessed it—more diced tomatoes. To channel the man the recipe is inspired by, serve the chili with saltine crackers, "just the way Walt liked it."
